George Orwell (his work)
George Orwell was a novelist and journalist. He wrote literacy criticism, poetry, fiction and polemical journalism, such as “Homage to Catalonia” which talked about his experience in the Spanish Civil War, and “The Road to Wigan Pier”, which talked about the unemployed miners in northern England.
However, these books didn’t make him famous. People are usually introduced to Orwell as a novelist. He became famous by the novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four” and “Animal Farm” which sold more copies than any other 20th century author. Orwell described to the readers what happened in the 20th century history and his own lifetime. The two world wars, Spanish Civil War, and the Russian Revolution. In Animal Farm, Orwell showed how bad the leader was and the story was to symbolize the Russian Revolution. The readers are attracted to how the Manor Farm changed from a place that all animals were torturing and controlled by Mr. Jones to an organized place. However, the new leader Napoleon became a greedy leader, he never thinks for the other animals and the innocence were cheated and manipulated. Squealer, who represents propaganda changed the commandments, it became “Some animals are more equal than others” when it was “All animals are equal”. Orwell wanted to express his thoughts to other people since he lived through many major events in the world, by doing that he chose to express them by writing novels.
