Dictatorship
Dictatorship is a form of government that one person or a small group will have all the power. Napoleon became the dictator of animal farm after Snowball got exiled. He gave orders to the animals and ran the farm instead of working with the animals. The reason why the animals started the revolution was because they were all suffering and tortured by Jones in order to give him supply and income. However, Napoleon did similar things to the animals which showed that he wanted power and controlled the animals. He took the puppies away and trained them to be his guards to make sure no one could overrule him.
Dictatorship is related to the farm in the novel, that Napoleon is the leader who has all the power to control the farm, and squealer plays the role of persuading other animals to agree with Napoleon. This is similar of what happened in the Soviet when Stalin had absolute power to control other people. He governed the country using fear, he wasn’t a leader that was supported by the people.
Orwell want to tell us a message and he did that successfully. He wants us to see the contradiction of the revolution in the novel. The animals started the revolution because they didn’t want to suffer anymore. However, when Napoleon became the leader of the farm, he acted like Mr. Jones. Orwell is trying to tell us that it doesn’t change to a better way all the time, it could be worse. If the new leader only wants power, wealth and control, the country wouldn’t change at all, and the people would have to suffer again.
